Softball Preview: Eureka Wildcats vs. St. Dominic Crusaders

The Eureka Wildcats will face off against the St. Dominic Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Eureka finally turned things around against Parkway West last Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Longhorns , sneaking past 3-2.

Meanwhile, St. Dominic waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Markers a 16-0 shutout. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Abigail Mandrell made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mandrell was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other pitching news, Ann Alsop looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she also racked up five strikeouts, the mostshe's had since back in September.

Back at the plate, St. Dominic got a massive performance out of Angela Williams, who went 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Madeline Ganey, who went 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, St. Dominic didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with seven strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nerinx Hall didn't tossed any.

Eureka's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-12. As for St. Dominic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
