Basketball Game Preview: Manteo Redskins vs. Holmes Aces

The Manteo Redskins will venture away from home to take on the Holmes Aces at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Manteo has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 13.

Last Monday, Manteo was beaten by Pasquotank County 82-53.

Despite the defeat, Manteo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zay Banks posted 14 points and eight rebounds. Markus Simmons also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Meanwhile, Holmes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 77-67 to Currituck County.

Holmes now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Manteo, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Manteo came up short against Holmes in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 65-57. Can Manteo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
