Basketball Game Preview: The Lab School of Washington Dragons vs. Cornerstone Lions

The Lab School of Washington Dragons will face off against the Cornerstone Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (The Lab School of Washington has seven straight wins, Cornerstone has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, The Lab School of Washington beat Washington International 51-41. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' District of Columbia basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Red Devils are ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Lab School of Washington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Donovan Harris, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 20 points along with six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Joshua Bumbray, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

The Lab School of Washington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Lab School of Washington. The Lions were up 36-20 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

The Lab School of Washington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Cornerstone, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

The Lab School of Washington didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cornerstone when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 65-61 victory.
