Baseball Recap: Jackson County Central Triumphs

Jackson County Central took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against Redwood Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Huskies narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 5-3.

Talan Holm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Jackson County Central is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Jackson County Central let Ben Gallagher and Casey Storm run wild. Gallagher got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double, while Storm went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Storm a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Fricke, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Jackson County Central now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Redwood Valley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
