Basketball Recap: Gray's Creek Beats Harnett Central for Their Third Straight Win

Gray's Creek extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Layla Fox. The Bears came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 30-25 W against the Harnett Central Trojans for which the team can thank Fox, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 19 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last four times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Bailey Bond, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. She has become a key player for Gray's Creek: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least eight boards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Despite the defeat, Harnett Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Emma Avery posted 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Nataya Brewington also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The victory got Gray's Creek back to even at 3-3. As for Harnett Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Gray's Creek will take on Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Harnett Central will be paying especially close attention to the Bears' contest: after the Bears face off against Jack Britt, they'll take on Harnett Central again at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
