Softball Preview: Minico Spartans vs. Wood River Wolverines        
        
		
            
 The Minico Spartans are on the road again  on Thursday to play the Wood River Wolverines at 3:00  p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
 Minico is headed into the  match fresh off scoring the most  runs they have all season. They blew past Mountain Home 17-2. With that  victory, Minico brought their scoring average up to 6.2  runs per game.
  Sammy Jasso made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  pitched three innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   four  hits. Jasso was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 In other batting news, Minico got a  massive  performance out of  Chuck Salinas, who  scored three  runs and  stole four bases while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.  Nye Salinas was another key contributor,  scoring three  runs and  stealing four bases while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Wood River had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They were the clear victor by  a  17-7 margin over the Riverhawks. Wood River might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five games by ten  runs or more this season.
  Hadley Elsbree was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing four bases while  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Faith Enderle, who  went 3-for-4 with two  triples and  an  RBI.
 Minico's record is now 4-9. As for Wood River, their record now sits at 8-3.
 Thursday's   matchup will be a test for both team's pitchers. Minico hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Wood River struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Minico suffered a grim  14-0 defeat to Wood River  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2023. Can Minico avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
