Baseball Recap: Portsmouth Christian Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Portsmouth Christian Academy dropped their record down to 9-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 11-4 to the Nute Rams. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 14-4.

Cai Summers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Fletcher Bowden also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Nute, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs.

On Nute's side, Brody Leeman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Leeman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Silas Picard and Cooper Janis did most of the damage at the plate: Picard went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Janis got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Picard has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ryan Kane, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Portsmouth Christian Academy will face off against rival Epping at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Nute is set to take on their familiar foe Concord Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.2, the Kingsmen 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
