Softball Recap: Glendale Prep Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Wickenburg two weeks ago, Glendale Prep Academy came back down to earth. Glendale Prep Academy came up short against the Tonopah Valley Phoenix on Saturday, falling 20-6. The Griffins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Phoenix apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Raegan Rockey put in work no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and 18 unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Rockey wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Rockey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. That hit marked the first that Rachel got this season.

Glendale Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Tonopah Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glendale Prep Academy will challenge Camp Verde at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Camp Verde will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Glendale Prep Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tonopah Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Highland Prep has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.17 runs per game on average), something Tonopah Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of.
