Softball Game Preview: Turlock Bulldogs vs. Modesto Panthers

The Turlock Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Modesto Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Turlock has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Turlock lost 11-1 to Orestimba on Wednesday. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly ten runs.

Turlock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Bailey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. Karley Wool was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Modesto challenged Gregori on Tuesday. The Panthers came up short against the Jaguars, falling 18-9. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Taylor Luton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Modesto's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Turlock, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Turlock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Modesto struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Turlock's way against Modesto in their previous meeting on April 1st, as Turlock made off with a 20-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
