Recap: Jefferson Christian Academy Eagles vs. Victory Christian Lions
The Jefferson Christian Academy Eagles posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 victory over Victory Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Jefferson Christian Academy.
It was another big night for Allison Wormely, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jada Washington, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Victory Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Haley Hendrix. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Hendrix is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Lily Brisendine was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Jefferson Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Victory Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson Christian Academy will take on Talladega County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Victory Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Appalachian at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. Appalachian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
