Softball Recap: Watsonville Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Watsonville can now relate to. They fell just short of the Woodside Wildcats by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Wildcatz couldn't push the score so high this time.

Amelia Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Watsonville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Espinoza, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Watsonville's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Woodside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.

As of now, neither Watsonville nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
