Basketball Game Preview: Sperry Pirates vs. Bristow Pirates

Sperry and Bristow are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Sperry Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Bristow Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sperry is looking for their season's first victory.

Sperry lost 50-27 to Mannford on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Bristow was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 53-48 to Webster. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sperry will need focus on slowing down Brian Hopgood. Jr., one of several Bristow players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. Hopgood. Jr. is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ty Bishop, who posted five points in addition to 11 rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Bristow smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Sperry's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Bristow, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Sperry didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bristow in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 45-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sperry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
