Basketball Recap: Ace Peterlin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lake Catholic over Padua Franciscan

Lake Catholic suffered their biggest defeat since January 21, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 71-48 to the Padua Franciscan Bruins. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ace Peterlin, who posted 15 points. Cross Nimmo was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Lake Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Padua Franciscan, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Lake Catholic and Padua Franciscan could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Lake Catholic (ranked 329th) will meet Fairview (ranked 130th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Padua Franciscan will face off against St. Edward at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 152 places (182 vs. 30).
