Basketball Game Preview: Chinle Wildcats vs. Window Rock Fighting Scouts

The Chinle Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Window Rock Fighting Scouts at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chinle will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Chinle picked up another tournament win last Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whitehorse 71-43. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Window Rock lost to San Carlos on the road by a 52-33 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Scouts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Braves are ranked 34th).

Chinle's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Window Rock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Chinle suffered a grim 63-41 defeat to Window Rock in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Chinle, Melicia Nelson (who dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
