Softball Recap: Browne Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Browne had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Apollo Hawks get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Monday.

Shyla Vazquez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Vazquez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Browne got a massive performance out of Anahi Rocha, who scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave Rocha a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tunisia Rios, who scored four runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-3.

Browne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.

Apollo's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Browne will host Copper Canyon at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apollo, they will venture away from home to take on Dobson at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
