Basketball Game Preview: Hillside Hornets vs. Voyager Academy Vikings + Official Tickets

The Hillside Hornets will take on the Voyager Academy Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

If Voyager Academy heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Hillside took over last week. The Hornets skirted past E.E. Smith 56-53. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Golden Bulls: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Voyager Academy's strategy against Franklin Academy on Tuesday. The Vikings took down the Patriots 71-53.

Hillside better focus on containing Darin Jones and Tristan Gibson as the pair were huge in Voyager Academy's win. Jones shot 46% from the field on his way to 18 points and three steals, while Gibson posted 15 points. Jones continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Julian Quinones was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Voyager Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin Academy only posted eight.

Voyager Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Hillside, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
