Mounds lost a close one when they played last Friday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by the Liberty Tigers at home and fell 52-16. The Golden Eagles haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylen Prestridge led the charge by rushing for 195 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per carry. Those 195 rushing yards gave Prestridge a new career-high. Joshua Pierce got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Mounds' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Mounds will square off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Talihina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Talihina will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Liberty surely won't give up without a fight.
