Softball Recap: Sarcoxie Bears vs. Mt. Vernon Mountaineers

Sarcoxie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell victim to a rough 12-2 defeat at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Sarcoxie of the 5-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Sarcoxie saw one different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Osborne, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

On Mt. Vernon's side, Cheyenne Bieber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Bieber has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive pitching appearances. Bieber was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI.
