Basketball Recap: Bethesda Academy Comes Up Short

Bethesda Academy lost against First Preparatory Christian Academy back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bethesda Academy Blazers were dealt a 94-67 loss at the hands of the First Preparatory Christian Academy Highlanders. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (60), the Blazers still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Bethesda Academy lost, don't look at Israel Wright. Despite the final result, he went 11-for-21 en route to 32 points and four steals. Those 32 points gave Wright a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Franky Jackson, who went 7-for-9 on his way to 15 points.

Jaiden Thomas was his usual excellent self, going 12-for-22 to rack up 36 points in addition to seven boards and five steals for First Preparatory Christian Academy. Thomas' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Logan Brown, who went 9-for-20 en route to 24 points.

Bethesda Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for First Preparatory Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Bethesda Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Holy Trinity Classical Christian on the 7th. As for First Preparatory Christian Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 66-60 loss against Robert Toombs Christian Academy on the 7th.
