Softball Recap: Haughton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Logansport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Haughton). They blew past the Logansport Tigers 15-1 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Buccaneers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Charlee Prothro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clara Shaffer, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brianna Benecke, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Haughton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Logansport only posted a batting average of .222.

The win made it two in a row for Haughton and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Logansport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.

Coming up, Haughton is taking a road trip to challenge North DeSoto at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. North DeSoto will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Haughton surely won't give up without a fight. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up.
