Rick Barnes lands Fort Bend Bush big man.

Cameron Ridley, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound junior post player from Fort Bend Bush (Richmond, Texas), has made a verbal commitment to Texas.

Rated the No. 28 prospect in the 2012 class by MaxPreps and rising, Ridley is nearly averaging a triple-double this season for the Broncos at over 14 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocked shots per game.

"He's a dominating player," Fort Bend Bush head coach Ronnie Courtney said. "He is commanding double- and triple-teams most nights. He has really come a long way."

The Houston-area big man didn't play basketball as a freshman and was coaxed into coming out after an encounter in the halls at Bush with Courtney.

"It just goes to show how hard he has worked," Courtney said. "He is in the gym constantly putting in the hours. It really is an amazing story."

Ridley helped Fort Bend Bush go 35-4 and capture Texas' Class 5A state title as a sophomore. With his collegiate decision out of the way, he can now focus on helping the Broncos' quest for a repeat.

"As I talked to him, he really liked those guys and they made him feel comfortable," Courtney said of Ridley's decision to pick the Longhorns. "Plus, it is close to the Houston area and that will allow his mom to continue to see him play."

Ridley is the first player in the 2012 class to make a commitment to Texas.
