Basketball Recap: Huntley Red Raiders vs. Central Rockets

Huntley easily dispatched Crystal Lake Central last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Huntley Red Raiders fell just short of the Central Rockets by a score of 73-70 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-48 back in January.

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from LJ Kerr, who posted 17 points and five boards. That's the most points Kerr has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Patrick Shell, who went 5 for 8 to rack up 16 points and eight rebounds.

Huntley's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Huntley will head out to square off against Crystal Lake South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crystal Lake South will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Huntley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Prairie Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
