Baseball Game Preview: Springs Valley Blackhawks vs. Perry Central Commodores

Springs Valley is 2-8 against Perry Central since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Blackhawks will host the Commodores at 6:00 p.m. Neither Springs Valley nor Perry Central posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Springs Valley is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to West Washington, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Springs Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Hall, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Perry Central entered their tilt with Paoli on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Dylan Mullis looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Perry Central pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Springs Valley, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-9.

Springs Valley suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Perry Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Blackhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
