Richland Center hadn't done well against River Valley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Thursday. The Hornets skirted past the Blackhawks  6-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  5-0  back in April.
Richland Center's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Jaycee Gander, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run.  Ella Clements also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  double of the season.
 Richland Center  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They are  a perfect 5-0 when  they post two or more  strikeouts.
Richland Center is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record  this season. As for River Valley,  they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 7-11.
 Looking ahead, Richland Center will face off against Hillsboro at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for River Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Poynette  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Pumas will roll in looking for their  ninth straight  win, something the Blackhawks surely won't give up without a fight.
