Baseball Game Preview: Santa Rosa Lions vs. Loving Falcons

The Santa Rosa Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Loving Falcons at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Santa Rosa will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.

Santa Rosa is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Hozho Academy. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 18 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Loving was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Eunice. The game was the first time the Falcons have beaten the Cardinals on their field since May 4, 2024.

Santa Rosa pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Loving, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-7.

Santa Rosa came out on top in a nail-biter against Loving in their previous matchup back in May of 2018, sneaking past 8-7. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
