Baseball Recap: Greencastle Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

Greencastle extended their postseason success on Monday against Parke Heritage. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 8-5. The Tiger Cubs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

Bryton Gregg was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Sutherlin, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April.

Greencastle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Greencastle has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Parke Heritage, they moved to 17-9 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Greencastle nor the Wolves have any future games scheduled.
