Basketball Recap: Fargo North Comes Up Short

Fargo North lost a heartbreaker to Moorhead when they met back in February of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Fargo North Spartans took an 85-80 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Moorhead Spuds. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Spartans came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in North Dakota, while the Spuds are ranked 95th in Minnesota).

Fargo North's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Moorhead, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fargo North won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Detroit Lakes at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Moorhead, they will take on St. Michael-Albertville at 3:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
