Preview: Flint River Academy Wildcats vs. St. George's
The Flint River Academy Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against St. George at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Flint River Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
On Friday, Flint River Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-43 to Oak Mountain Academy.
Despite their defeat, Flint River Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Cale Cartwright, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Cartwright has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamir Muhammad, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, St. George's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a rough 62-40 loss at the hands of Rock Springs Christian Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. George's in their matchups with Rock Springs Christian Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Flint River Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for St. George's, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-14.
Flint River Academy beat St. George's 61-54 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Flint River Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
