No. 1 Mater Dei takes on No. 2 Centennial tonight in a national top 10 matchup.

This week's high school football schedule in California is headlined by No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) taking on No. 2 Centennial (Corona) on Thursday night.

Centennial, ranked No. 8 nationally, is led by senior quarterback Husan Longstreet but the Texas A&M commit's status is in doubt due to an injury. That would be a big blow for the Huskies if he can't take the field Thursday.

Mater Dei is the No. 1 team in the country and the defending state champs. Led by running back Jordon Davison and linebacker Nasir Wyatt, the Monarchs have proven veterans on both sides of the football.

No. 4 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) will take on No. 8 JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) on Friday Friday. Sierra Canyon opened the season last week with a 30-7 win over Punahou (Honolulu) behind senior quarterback Wyatt Becker, who completed 18 of 26 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown.

No. 7 Orange Lutheran (Orange) and No. 16 Serra (Gardena) also square off Friday. Led by Nebraska commit T.J. Lateef, the Lancers are ranked No. 24 in the nation.

Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) will make the journey north to take on No. 9 Folsom. The Jackrabbits are led by sophomore JuJu Johnson, a four-star with offers that include Oregon and Penn State. Folsom is led by junior five-star Ryder Lyons, who accounted for more than 60 touchdowns last year as the Bulldogs won a state crown.

In another state top 25 matchup, No. 18 Murrieta Valley (Murrieta) faces No. 17 Rancho Cucamonga. Both teams have star-rated quarterbacks as Murrieta Valley's Bear Bachmeier is committed to Stanford and Rancho Cucamonga senior Emiliano Villarreal holds three-stars.
