Softball Game Preview: South Grand Prairie Warriors vs. Richardson Eagles

For the second straight game, South Grand Prairie will face off against Richardson. The Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Grand Prairie will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

On Thursday, South Grand Prairie got the win against Richardson by a conclusive 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jernie Nerio made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Alex Stone and Gianna Orozco did most of the damage at the plate: Stone went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Orozco went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those RBI were Stone's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Huynh, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

South Grand Prairie pushed their record up to 18-8-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Richardson, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-14.
