Basketball Game Preview: Oak Hill Oaks vs. Northwest Mohawks

The Oak Hill Oaks will challenge the Northwest Mohawks at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Oak Hill beats Northwest with 54 points on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Oak Hill enjoyed a cozy 54-36 win over South Gallia on Friday. Given the Oaks' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Rebels are ranked 677th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Northwest didn't have too much trouble with Adena on Saturday as they won 64-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mohawks.

Oak Hill is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Northwest, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Oak Hill took a serious blow against Northwest when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 63-33. Can Oak Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
