Softball Recap: Wickliffe Takes a Loss

Wickliffe couldn't beat South on Saturday even though they stacked eight runs on them in the fourth inning. The Blue Devils came up short against the Rebels, falling 20-11. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Amanda Peklay made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Ava McGarry also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Wickliffe now has a losing record of 4-5. As for South, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

Coming up, Wickliffe will challenge Berkshire at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Badgers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chardon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
