Basketball Recap: Bedford's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Bedford had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past the St. Martin de Porres Lions with points to spare on Sunday, taking the game 46-31. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bearcats also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

St. Martin de Porres lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Haylee Ray, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Ray a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Alayah Coleman, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Bedford's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for St. Martin de Porres, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Bedford Bearcats face off against the Warrensville Heights Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Martin de Porres, they will host HEARTS for Jesus Christ at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Martin de Porres is facing HEARTS for Jesus Christ at the right time seeing as HEARTS for Jesus Christ is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
