Basketball Recap: Centerville Takes a Loss

Centerville won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They lost 59-39 to the Normangee Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1253rd, while the Panthers are ranked 447th).

Centerville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Normangee, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centerville and Iola will round out the year against one another at at 1:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Normangee, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Normangee Panthers face off against the Leon Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on December 30th. One thing working in Normangee's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
