Basketball Recap: Lee County Takes a Loss

Lee County was the 59-43 winner over Pinecrest when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lee County Yellow Jackets lost 47-21 to the Pinecrest Patriots on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.

Cherish Smith was Lee County's leading scorer, having posted five points.

Leading Pinecrest to victory were Kennedy Moore and Aniya McGregor. Moore went 6 of 11 on her way to 16 points and seven steals, while McGregor went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Moore has scored at least a third of Pinecrest's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Vonderkall, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Lee County is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6. As for Pinecrest, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Scotland the next time they take the court. Pinecrest will host Scotland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Lee County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
