Baseball Recap: Clearview Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Clearview dropped their record down to 7-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 14-10 to the Rancocas Valley Red Devils. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Pioneers, who until this matchup were averaging three runs allowed.

Clearview got a good showing from Alex Salimena, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Sawyer Wood was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Ryan Battista was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Rancocas Valley, the victory got them back to even at 7-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Rancocas Valley's side, Jaylen Alvarez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Alvarez has become a key player for the Red Devils: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Young, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Looking ahead, Clearview will challenge Paul VI at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rancocas Valley, they will venture away from home to take on Eastern at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
