Softball Recap: Cicero-North Syracuse Takes a Loss

After flying high against Camden last Thursday, Cicero-North Syracuse came back down to earth. The Northstars fell just short of the Yorktown Patriots by a score of 10-8 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Northstars have suffered since May 4, 2024.

Kiyara Bembry was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits.

On the hitting side, Marisa Leone was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica Hibbard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Cicero-North Syracuse's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Yorktown, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Cicero-North Syracuse will take on Chesterfield at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Yorktown, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Spencerport at 11:15 a.m.
