Preview: Oak Ridge Pioneers vs. The Rock National Lions
The Oak Ridge Pioneers will take on The Rock National Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oak Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,726 points over their last 21 contests.
Last Friday, Oak Ridge faced Olympia in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Oak Ridge took down Olympia 87-73. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oak Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamier Jones, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. Jones has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Tillery, who scored 20 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, The Rock National had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They strolled past The Villages Charter with points to spare, taking the game 77-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 19-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for The Rock National, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
