Softball Recap: St. Marys' Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Marys entered their tilt with South Harrison on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Hawks 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ella Bullman and Madison Sturgeon did most of the damage at the plate: Bullman went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Sturgeon went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Sturgeon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Winland, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

St. Marys hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Harrison struck out nine times.

St. Marys' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Harrison, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Marys will venture away from home to face off against Petersburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Harrison, they will head out to take on Roane County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
