Baseball Recap: Portland Christian Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

Portland Christian barely beat Nestucca the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Royals never let the Bobcats get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Jack Mazurowski made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Portland Christian's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Mazurowski was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Humphrey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Michael Thurber, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Portland Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nestucca only posted an OBP of .158.

Portland Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Nestucca, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Portland Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
