Basketball Recap: Taylor Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chrisman over Westville

It was a proper cat-fight when Chrisman took on Westville on Tuesday. The Chrisman Cardinals came up short against the Westville Tigers, falling 46-25. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Chrisman's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Jones, who posted seven points along with nine boards and four steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Adaleyn Miller, who earned seven points and six boards.

Westville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gwen Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. That's the most boards Bennett has posted since back in December of 2024. Jazmyn Bennett was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and five rebounds.

Chrisman has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season. As for Westville, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-19.

Chrisman has already played their next game (against Armstrong), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Westville will venture away from home to face off against Schlarman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westville is facing Schlarman at the right time seeing as Schlarman is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
