Baseball Game Preview: Lakeland Christian Vikings vs. Santa Fe Catholic Hawks

For the second straight game, Lakeland Christian will face off against Santa Fe Catholic. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lakeland Christian 2.8, Santa Fe Catholic 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lakeland Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They beat Santa Fe Catholic by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on three straight.

Alex Arthur spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Brody Brenneman and Gavin Byrd did most of the damage at the plate: Brenneman went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Byrd got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Lakeland Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matches.

Santa Fe Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 23-8 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Lakeland Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 23-8.
