Football Recap: Tahlequah Starts off Right with Win over East Central

Tahlequah gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the East Central Cardinals 55-6. With the Tigers ahead 42-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Tahlequah had a senior duo take command as Jake Girty rushed for 133 yards on only 12 carries and Synjin Sampson threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tahlequah will venture away from home to challenge Sapulpa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Central, they will head out to square off against Nathan Hale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
