Volleyball Recap: Ponderosa Mustangs vs. Chaparral Wolverines
Ponderosa was the 3-1 winner over Chaparral when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Ponderosa fell 3-1 to Chaparral on Tuesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ponderosa started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 25-17, 25-21, 25-18.
Ren Rosenberg paced Ponderosa's offense, picking up ten kills. Rosenberg got some help from Wesley Bolline and his 13 assists. Finally, Jake Sherrill kept Ponderosa's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.
Logan Thomsen was a one-man wrecking crew For Chaparral. as he had 23 digs and two aces. Those 23 digs gave Thomsen a new career-high. Ryan Carrizales also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.
Ponderosa's record now sits at 1-4. As for Chaparral, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ponderosa will challenge rival Regis Jesuit at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Chaparral is set to square off against their familiar foe Bear Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
