New Georgia Tech head coach Brian Gregory landed his second in-state 2012 prospect Friday morning when Marcus Hunt of North Clayton (College Park, Ga.) made a pledge to the Yellow Jackets.

Hunt, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound wing, had a breakout junior campaign at North Clayton, averaging over 27 points and 12 rebounds per game to earn first team Class AAAA All-State honors by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"It's a new start, a new beginning at Georgia Tech and Marcus saw an opportunity to step in right away as a freshman and be effective," said Willie Hunt, Marcus' father and an assistant in the North Clayton program. "Coach Gregory made a strong first impression, a lasting impression. Plus, Georgia Tech is close to home and that was a big factor."

His strong play continued over the summer with a Georgia Stars club team that featured major Division I recruits like Tony Parker, Alex Poythress, Jaron Blossomgame, Kenneth Gaines and Montay Brandon. In a key game against previously-undefeated Team Takeover at the EYBL Finals in South Carolina, Hunt poured in 27 points to spark an upset victory.

Hunt is rated the No. 88 overall prospect in the 2012 class by MaxPreps. Norcross guard Chris Bolden is Georgia Tech's other verbal commitment in the rising senior class.
