Baseball Game Preview: Sinton Pirates vs. Alexander Bulldogs

The Sinton Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Alexander Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sinton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 17 games.

Sinton's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Calhoun. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Clay Mitchell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derek Garcia, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Julian Suarez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Sinton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhoun only posted an OBP of .211.

Meanwhile, Alexander got the win against United on Friday by a conclusive 7-0.

Sinton's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-5-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Alexander, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
