Football Recap: Luling Comes Up Short

Luling extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were outmatched by the Marion Bulldogs and fell 49-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 43-7 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Marion, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.7 points over those games.

Marion had a senior duo take command as Kade Pape threw for 154 yards and three TDs and Tanner Otis rushed for 107 yards and one score. Otis is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Luling is set to face off against their familiar foe Llano at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Marion will challenge rival Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
