Basketball Recap: Prescott Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mesquite

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Prescott walked away with it. They strolled past the Mesquite Wildcats with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 90-76. Given the Badgers' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Wildcats are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Prescott's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Uriah Tenette led the charge by going 12-for-19 to rack up 31 points and eight assists. Tenette's evening made it 53 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Gaul, who shot 62% from the field on his way to 24 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Tenette wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Prescott was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. Prescott is 20-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

When it comes to explaining why Mesquite lost, don't look at Kobe Bradley. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points. What's more, Bradley also posted a 73% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Marcus Ward was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Prescott has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 38.1 points. Mesquite's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-15.

Prescott didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-48 victory against ALA - Gilbert North on the 28th. Mesquite does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
