Softball Recap: Mason County Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hesperia on Tuesday, Mason County Central came back down to earth. The Spartans lost 7-0 to the Brethren Bobcats on Thursday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Mason County Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Melvin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Ellen Haner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Mason County Central has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Brethren, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7.

While Mason County Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
