Recap: North Rowan Cavaliers vs. Mountain Heritage Cougars

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the North Rowan Cavaliers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 48-39. The victory was familiar territory for North Rowan who now have three in a row.

North Rowan was led to victory by Jeremiah Alford and Jaemias Morrow. Alford rushed for 95 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, while Morrow rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Morrow was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Heritage lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brandon Quinn. Despite the final result, he rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 66 yards and two touchdowns. Quinn is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cason Jones, who gained 127 total yards and two touchdowns.

North Rowan pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points per game. As for Mountain Heritage, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.

North Rowan will head out on the road to face off against Robbinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Robbinsville will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Mountain Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
